3/20 A Kicking Machine

We spent a few hours this morning with Madeleine and she seems back to her normal self. The nurses are back to complaining about her kicking off the various monitors and she's very stable. She does have some breathing assistance via her nose and this is standard protocol for babies when they are extubated. As you might expect, Madeleine doesn't like the canula (sp?) at all and is doing her best to rip it out. The doctors are hoping that she can be slowly weaned off the breathing assistance while the continue weaning from dopamine-- their basic goal is to have these gone by some time next week. After that, we still have 12 more days of antibiotics and they'll then start considering the re-introduction of food. All in all, it looks like a slow but promising recovery road.

That's it-- I'm back at work so I need to get cracking. Have a good day-- more pics later tonight.

Glad she's doing better each day, and glad you're transitioning back to work. She is SO CUTE! I find that nurses put adults on nasal canula for no apparent reason at all, so I think of it as next to nothing and a very good thing. Thanks for the pic and for the updates. I think of you both often.

Desperate for update pictures. Did mom get to hold her today? Kiss her for us-mom (Kay)

Kirsten held her yesterday and was planning to hold her this afternoon-- I'm assuming the lack of a phone call means she is still holding her. Kirsten has the camera so I can't upload until later tonight... have a good one.

We Just love the daily updatesand we're so happy that she is progressing so well. The first thing that Willy and I say each morning is "I wonder how little Matty is doing today". The first place I go to on the net is Maddie's page. We have the men's Bible study in the Epis. Church in Norcross GA and the women's group in Zion Church Colton NY all praying for her. Just keep sending out good reports.

Brent & Kirsten, thanks so much for posting all the great pictures and informative updates on your blog.

A day does not go by without all of you in my thoughts and prayers.

Don and I are so happy Madeline is kicking %$% and taking names. She reminds us of some Bushey boys we know.

She is truely a beautiful little girl and clearly blessed to be surrounded by your tremendous love as well as all the love and support from family and friends.

Peace and love to you all. XOXO
